Php and Grid... i am confused

Ok i need help...
i connect basic.php to my db with little change but i need to set style of my grid but how? activewidghets.php has functions and i cant write <script> in a function so how can i do it

You must use PHP script, to write code to the page.

i know but i cant find any example for php in forum can anyone help me to write a script in php which changes grids number format, it is simple on html page but my diffuculty is when its in a php function.. ?
