Determine Control Height

I am trying to add a second header of comboboxes to allow modifying a column (filtering its values). When I add the combos to the grid using the method shown here:

The combo box does not resize to fit the headr like it does when you set it to be a CellTemplate. How do you:

a) resize the combo to the header OR
b) resize the header to the combo
