getSelectedRows() problems

I found that getSelectedRows() gives the the lastest idnex row when there's no row selected.

SO HOW CAN I KNOW IF THERE'S A ROW SELECTED IN THE GRID ??

if THERE'S no row selected, I would like to get a -1 value or null.
