Can't even get the elementary hello world button to work

What's up with that?... Just trying to get a button on a .htm page.
I hung the runtime dir off my root dir and tried the code.
ERROR: AW is not defined.
I pulled aw.js and xp/aw.css out and placed them in the root dir (along with the images too).
Then changed the 'script' and 'link' src and href respectively.
ERROR: AW is not defined.
I've checked the file permissions.

What am I missing here??
